Why I’m Starting This Substack After 15+ Years on WordPress

With more than 15 years of sharing my thoughts, insights, and technology journey on my WordPress site, I’m excited to introduce this Substack as a natural extension of my online presence—not a replacement, but a new space to experiment, grow, and engage with my readers in fresh ways. My WordPress site will remain an important part of my journaling/writing/sharing information process and journey , while Substack serves as an extension—offering new ways to connect and share about technology, without replacing my original platform..
Over the years, my passion for technology—especially artificial intelligence and emerging digital trends—has only grown. I’ve enjoyed connecting with readers, helping others navigate the fast-changing tech landscape, and building a space for practical tips and honest reflections.
As I embarked on this new journey, I explored several platforms including Medium, Ghost, and Beehiv to find the best fit for my evolving content style and community goals. Each platform offered unique features, but Substack stood out for its simplicity, direct connection to readers, and strong sense of community. Learning to navigate Substack has been an exciting evolution—offering fresh opportunities to engage more meaningfully and deliver content in a way that feels personal and impactful.
So, why go to Substack now?
Dual Approach: JorgeDiaries Substack acts as an extension of my main blog, maximizing reach and engagement by combining in-depth posts (on the blog) and product/services details with quick insights, curated updates, community engagement, and newsletters (on Substack).
A Fresh Format for Deeper Connection: Substack’s newsletter format makes it easier to reach you directly, right in your inbox. It’s a more personal, immediate way to share updates, stories, and resources.
Community and Conversation: Substack encourages interaction and discussion, so we can connect more closely and build a community around our shared interests.
Managing spam comment on my WordPress site became increasingly difficult over the years, to the point where I had to turn off comments altogether. It was frustrating to sift through endless spam and low-quality interactions. One of the things I appreciate about Substack is that the readership and comments feel much more genuine and engaging. The community here is more focused, conversations are meaningful, and it’s easier to connect with readers who truly care about the topics I cover
Focus on Quality and Value: With fewer distractions and a clean, reader-first design, Substack lets me focus on delivering high-quality insights and practical takeaways on AI, tech trends, and more.
Ad-free Platform: Although I am not sure how long will it actually last, another major plus of Substack is that it’s completely free of ads, creating a clean reading/writing experience. This allows me to focus fully on delivering valuable content without interruptions, making your reading experience more enjoyable and focused.
New Opportunities: This platform opens up new ways to share exclusive content, behind-the-scenes looks at my projects, and curated recommendations.
Whether you’ve followed my journey for years or are just joining now, I’m grateful for your support—and I can’t wait to explore what’s next together.
Thank you for being here!
